To start off, I did a search on Thingiverse.com for Asian Hornet trap.
Asian Hornets are a pest in Europe with no natural predators.
Several projects popped up but after testing them most did not fit jars properly.
Note that the hole at the end of the tower should be 8 mm exactly.
Check this after printing to ensure that the trap will work.
I printed with standard PLA.
Working Bait Recipe
My recipe is 1/3 wine, 1/3 beer and 1/3 lemonade syrup.
The Asian hornet is especially greedy in spring, when it seeks sugars, but in summer it is especially attracted to sweet liquids and certain proteins:
Sweet and alcoholic combination: A mixture of two parts white wine, two parts stout, and one part cranberry juice, or white wine, stout, and a tablespoon of honey.
It provides an intense, sweet, fermented smell that is irresistible to wasps and less noticeable to bees.
Tips: Use a sponge or hydro grains to enlarge the evaporation surface. Place at about 1m height.
When is the best time to set up the Asian hornet trap?
The optimal moment Traps are best set during early spring, as this is when queens are out searching for food and founding new nests.
Capturing queens during this period is key, since with each captured queen, we prevent the formation of colonies of thousands of individuals.
However, if you detect Asian hornet activity during other times, it is advisable to keep traps active, especially if you live in a temperate climate.
